DIPOLOG CITY, Zamboanga del Norte - Several students were stranded in their schools in this city after the Department of Education announced class suspensions Tuesday.

Classes from pre-school to high school were suspended in parts of Mindanao and Visayas due to rains and wind from Tropical Storm Basyang.

“We already told them to go home but because they don’t have rain gear...they’re still here,” said Hyasinth Tribujeña, principal designate of Zamboanga del Norte National High School Miputak Campus.

Rather than doing nothing, grade 10 Glocelyn Dadan along with her group mates decided to make their props for their speech choir presentation come Thursday.

“We just make our props while we can not go home yet,” said Dadan.

Dipolog City continued to experience light to moderate rains since early evening of Monday.
