DAVAO CITY — The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Region- Davao Region transferred 9 high-risk inmates to the BJMP-Special Intensive Care Area at Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig last Sunday.
Jail Insp. Edo Lobenia, BJMP 11 spokesperson, said 7 of the inmates are said to be members of the Maute group and 2 belong to Abu Sayyaf Group.
The 7 suspected Maute terrorists are Wendel Facturan, Musali Mustapha, TJ Macabalang, Zack Jaron Lopez, Jessy Vincent Original, Jackson Usi, and Alisa Mamasapano. They are charged with terrorism, multiple murder and multiple attempted murder cases for the Roxas Night Market bombing in Davao City that killed 15 people and injured 69 others on September 2, 2016.
The two members of ASG are Arkam Isnaji and Fauzia Abdulla.
They face kidnapping with homicide charges for allegedly kidnapping and killing Canadian national John Ridsdel in Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte on September 21, 2015.
"Napaka-risky ng mga personalities na to kasi may chance na i-rescue sila ng kanilang mga kasamahan," Lebonia said in an interview.
He said the Davao City Jail requested and secured the approval of petition for Transfer of Place of Detention and petition for Transfer of Venue from the court.
Davao City Jail warden Grace Taculin requested the Supreme Court for the transfer of custody of the inmates on January 13, 2017.
Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio also endorsed the request to the Supreme Court through the City Peace and Order Council of Davao City.
The high Court approved the petition on January 5, 2018.
