BUTUAN CITY - Police on Tuesday announced a P50,000 reward to those who could provide information on the speeding vehicle that hit a volunteer doctor in Santiago, Agusan del Norte last Thursday.
A black SUV was seen in a CCTV footage where Dr. Zuriele Arambulo was hit while she was crossing the street after getting off a bus on Feb. 7.
Authorities have yet to identify the driver and the plate number of the vehicle.
“Sa ngayon patuloy pang ini-enhance ng ating cybercrime [team] ang CCTV para makita ang plate number ng sasakyan," said Supt. Christian Rafols II, spokesperson of the Caraga Police Regional Office.
(Our cybercrime team is still working on enhancing the CCTV footage to see the vehicle's plate number.)
Authorities urged the public to report any information regarding the incident through 815-3225 or 0908-8752252.
Arambulo was among 8 physicians assigned to the town under the "Doctor to the Barrios" initiative of the Department of Health (DOH), a program which deploys doctors to far-flung and disadvantaged areas.
The DOH earlier appealed to the driver of the vehicle to surrender to authorities.
The DOH said Arambulo graduated from the Cebu Institute of Medicine in 2017 and passed the licensure examination the following year.
Her remains were brought to Metro Manila on Sunday. -- Report from Charmane Awitan, ABS-CBN News
