MANILA - Former Commission on Elections Chairman Andres Bautista on Monday failed to attend the Senate investigation on alleged violations of the anti-money laundering act.
Bautista told the Senate Committee on Banks Financial Institutions and Currencies that he had been out of the country since November to seek medical treatment.
Senator Francis Escudero, chair of the committee, earlier said a subpoena has been sent for Bautista to appear before the panel.
Failure to do so will compel the Senate to hold the former Comelec chair in contempt and move for his arrest, added Escudero. - report from Michelle Ong, ABS-CBN News
