Senator Francis Escudero on Monday sought the issuance of an arrest warrant against ex-poll chief Andres Bautista after the latter's failure to attend a Senate committee inquiry on his alleged violation of the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

Escudero said the fact that Bautista did not even give a forwarding address is "clearly an attempt to stifle" the proceedings.

Bautista on Monday said he had not received any invitation to appear before the inquiry of the Senate committee on banks, financial institutions and currencies.

Bautista’s wife, Patricia, earlier accused the ex-poll chief of amassing nearly P1-billion in unexplained wealth.
