Low-pressure area spotted east of Mindanao

MANILA—A low pressure area was spotted 1,760 kilometers east of Mindanao, outside of the Philippine area of responsibility, state weather bureau PAGASA said early Sunday.

PAGASA weather forecaster Shiela Reyes said the weather disturbance might develop into a tropical depression and might enter the PAR on Sunday.

"Batay po sa ating analysis, posible pong mag-develop ito into a tropical depression category na bagyo at posibleng pumasok ng PAR ngayong araw," Reyes told radio DZMM.

The northeast monsoon will continue to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains to Cagayan Valley region and Cordillera Administrative Region, while isolated rains may be expected in Ilocos region.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.
