MANILA- The United States Embassy in the Philippines clarified Monday that its visa policy for Manila remains as it debunked a false advisory alleging the suspension of visa applications.
An advisory circulating online on the suspension of US visa applications as well as the cancelation of tourist visas is "fraudulent," Washington's embassy said.
"Please note that US visa policy in the Philippines has not changed," it said in a statement.
The false advisory stated that US visa applications are suspended due to the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak, and the Philippine government's move to cancel its visiting forces agreement with the US.
"These claims are not true," the US embassy said.
It also reminded Filipinos that accurate information on visa policies can be accessed on their website and social media platforms.
It also encouraged the public to report visa and passport fraud by sending an email to FPMManila@state.gov.
