SANTOL, LA UNION – Anti-narcotics agents torched two marijuana plantation sites in Sitio Bas-ungan in Barangay Sapdaan here Thursday morning.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 1 and the Santol Municipal Police Station said marijuana plants grown from both sites were worth around P720,000.

The first site had 3,000 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants on a 250-sqm lot, while another 600 plants were growing on a 50-sqm lot in the same barangay.

Authorities said a farmer named Jerry Dionisio was also caught cultivating the marijuana plants.

The plantation sites were immediately burned, and some marijuana plants were taken by authorities as evidence against the suspect.

Dionisio is facing charges for alleged violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He is now under the custody of the Santol Municipal Police Station.
