MANILA - Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go on Wednesday said he is not interested in seeking a Senate seat.

In a statement, Go said President Rodrigo Duterte only joked about his supposed interest in running for senator in the 2019 mid-term polls.

"I would like to publicly state that I am not interested in running for a Senate seat," Go said.

"I have dedicated my life to serving PRRD (President Rodrigo Roa Duterte) and I am committed to stand beside him 'til kingdom come," he added.

Go on Wednesday received the green light from Duterte to attend a Senate probe into the frigate acquisition project of the Philippine Navy, in which he is accused of meddling.

The President's top aide allegedly had a hand in the selection of the combat management system (CMS) for two warships procured by the Philippine Navy from South Korean firm Hyundai Heavy Industries.

Go and Malacañang have denied any anomalies in the project.
