Miracle in EDSA: Woman finds missing cousin while in traffic 1

MANILA – Who would have thought that amid the hellish traffic in EDSA, miracles could happen?

Ivy Gonzales now thanks traffic in EDSA because she found a cousin who had been missing since December.

Gonzales, who lives in Aurora province, was in Manila over the weekend when she accidentally spotted her missing teenage cousin, Leonardo Pagay.

Pagay has hydrocephalus and was reported missing on December 26, 2016. His mother, Juvy Pagay, an OFW in Qatar, went on-air on DZMM’s Lingkod Kapamilya program on January 27 to seek help.

By February 5, the search was over.

Fate made a way when Gonzales boarded a passenger bus along Ortigas-EDSA on Sunday.

Gonzales said in an interview on DZMM on Tuesday.

The bus was slowly moving when she asked the driver to let her out.

“Tinakbo ko po si Leo at hiniyawan ko po at lumingon sa akin,” she said.

She then asked the boy how he ended up in Manila. The boy said he boarded two buses from Aurora province.

Without knowing where he was, the boy told his cousin that he slept on the streets and begged for alms to survive.

His mother was happy and relieved that he is now safely back home.

Mrs Pagay added that Dipaculao Mayor Joana Salamanca personally went to Manila to fetch the boy.
