MANILA – Voter turnout in Wednesday's Bangsamoro plebiscite was "very promising," despite bomb attacks the day before, The Commission on Elections said.
Some 75 percent of registered voters turned up at poll precincts, said Comelec spokesman James Jimenez. The plebiscite will decide the inclusion of 6 Lanao del Norte municipalities and 67 North Cotabato barangays in the Bangsamoro autonomous region.
Actual voting is expected to end by 4:30 to 5 p.m. to give way to those who made it in line before the cut off of 3 p.m., Jimenez said. Results are expected in 4 days, he said.
