MANILA - A group of senators who sit together in the Upper Chamber could become a "Third Force" in the 2019 midterm elections, Senator JV Ejercito said Tuesday.

Ejercito earlier posted a selfie with the "Third Force" Senators Sonny Angara, Migz Zubiri, Sherwin Gatchalian, Joel Villanueva, and Nancy Binay.

Speaking to ANC Tuesday, Ejercito said the Third Force, which is composed of the Senate "seatmates bloc", has come into its own when voting independently on important issues lawmakers tackle.

He said the "Force" members were not picked by the ruling PDP-Laban for their senatorial slate.

"Parang, since they do not want us in the slate—they claim it's an all PDP slate—di we have to band together. Magsama-sama na lang tayo kasi maganda naman ang samahan namin," Ejercito said.

The senator, however, said that these are just "loose talks" and no one in the Third Force has finalized yet if they will join the 2019 midterm elections.

Part of the informal and light conversations, Ejercito said, is the possibility that either Senator Cynthia Villar or Vicente Sotto III will be their campaign manager.
