CALINOG, Iloilo – A town councilor who is also a mayoralty candidate of this municipality was arrested after failing to present documents for guns seized during a search on his house in Barangay Libot on Monday night.

Members of the Calinog Police, Provincial Intelligence Branch, and the Iloilo Provincial Police Office served a search warrant at the house of Francisco Calvo and recovered an M16 rifle, a caliber .45, a caliber .22, a caliber .25, and bullets and empty shells of different calibers.

Calvo was able to present documents and licenses for the M16 rifle and caliber .45.

However, authorities found out that the calibers .22 and .25 were defective and do not have legal documents.

Calvo is detained pending investigation and will face charges for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.

The news team tried to get his side but Calvo was allegedly not feeling well.
