The family of slain Philippine Air Force Sgt. Mark Herbert Oberes on Saturday alleged that he received threats from the mother and the current partner of his ex-girlfriend prior to his death on Wednesday night.

Bert Padilla, Oberes' brother-in-law, said the PAF member received threats from Edna Cabañog, mother of Resamie Cabañog who is also a suspect, and Joshua Garciano, boyfriend of Resamie, early January through text messages and Facebook.

An investigation initially revealed that a love triangle was the reason for the airman's death.

"Ingon man gud nga love triangle ang case, we believe it's more than that. Naay personal grudge ang suspect. Base sa among nakuha nga information sa ilang conversation sa chat logs," Padilla said.

Diana Padilla-Oberes, the airman's wife, alleged that she just discovered last month that Resamie borrowed P50,000 from her husband to open a small canteen.

When the Obereses asked them to pay up, the airman received threats from Edna and Joshua.

Padilla-Oberes also alleged that her husband and Resamie had a relationship that started sometime in June and ended in November 2017. The two met over Facebook when Mark invited Resamie to join a networking business.

Diana described her husband as a responsible provider for the family.

She said they will continue to coordinate with investigators for any leads on the whereabouts of the other suspects in her husband's killing.
