MANILA – Law enforcers arrested Wednesday a man who threatened to release a woman's nude photos on social media if she refuses to have sex with him.
Victim “Jenina” said a certain David Garcia messaged her on Facebook last January 31 and told her that he possesses some of her nude photos.
Jenina said the man threatened to spread her nude photos to her friends if she will ignore his messages that they have sex. This prompted the victim to block the suspect on Facebook.
The suspect then made good on his threat and sent some of the nude photos to her mother who is working abroad.
Jenina sought the help of the Philippine National Police – Anti-Cybercrime Division, which then set up an entrapment operation in Cubao, Quezon City Wednesday afternoon.
This led to the arrest of "David Garcia" whose real identity is Regino Echas, a 24-year-old graphic artist from Caloocan City.
According to the victim, Echas obtained her photos from a group chat in which he is also a member.
The suspect is facing charges of grave coercion, and violation of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 and Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009. - report from Maan Macapagal, ABS-CBN News
