Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea was appointed head of the EDSA People Power Commission (EPPC).

Medialdea is the son of former Associate Justice Leo Medialdea, who was part of the Supreme Court from 1988 to 1992 or during most of President Corazon Aquino’s term.

Medialdea's co-chair had yet to be named as of posting.

The EPPC is the government agency tasked with organizing and implementing the annual commemoration of the 1986 EDSA Revolution.

Its duties include promoting awareness of the events, and the beliefs of the people that sparked the People Power Revolution, which led to the fall of the Marcos dictatorship.

In a press briefing, Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said the theme for the EDSA anniversary celebration on February 25 is "A Day of Reflection: Celebrating People Power."
