MANILA - Newly installed director of the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group C/Supt Dionardo Carlos said he will focus on eliminating crime, corruption, terrorism and drugs in the country's airports.

"As the new head of the office, aside from the plans and programs effective to this unit, I will also focus on the campaign against crime, corruption, drugs and terrorism," Carlos said during the turnover of command ceremony at the unit's headquarters in Pasay City.

"In an airport complex, kailangan may coordination at cooperation. Sinabi kanina ni Chief PNP na hindi naman nagbibigay ng sakit sa ulo ang AVSEGROUP. We will continue to contribute in lessening crime and corruption, and eliminating smuggling of drugs in airports. May mga anti-terrorism efforts din tayo," he added.

Carlos assumed the leadership of the PNP unit on Tuesday, replacing Chief Superintendent Sheldon Jacaban, who reached the mandatory retirement age of 56.

Prior to his assignment to the aviation group, Carlos was the chief of the PNP-Public Information Office.

PNP chief Ronald dela Rosa, who led the ceremony, named Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao of the National Capital Region Police Office as the new chief of the PNP-PIO.
