TALISAY CITY - One of the suspects tagged in the ambush of San Fernando, Cebu Mayor Lakambini Reluya was wounded in a firefight here, authorities said Tuesday.

The gunman identified as Jerome Cabuenas Labitad sustained injuries while he was trying to flee from officials who were supposed to serve his arrest warrant, Senior Insp. Alejandro Batobalonos, chief of the San Fernando Police Provincial Intelligence Branch, told reporters.

He fired at arresting officials and escaped with two other persons, Batobalonos said.

Labitad, considered as Talisay City's most wanted person, was among those allegedly behind an ambush last week that left Reluya's husband and two staffers dead.

The mayor, along with two body guards, were injured in the incident.
