MANILA - The Sandiganbayan Third Division ordered former Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile to appear in court Wednesday for the signing of the pre-trial order for his graft cases in connection with the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam.
Associate Justice Ronald Moreno also ordered in open court the presence of Enrile’s co-accused, including former businesswoman and plunder convict Janet Lim Napoles and lawyer Gigi Reyes, who is currently detained at Camp Bagong Diwa. Napoles is serving her reclusion perpetua sentence at the Correctional Institution for Women.
“Bring the accused tomorrow for the signing of the pre-trial order,” Moreno said, to which, Enrile's lawyer, Joseph Sagandoy, Jr., replied, "We are not sure if accused Enrile is available tomorrow."
The hearing for 15 counts of graft and 1 count of plunder involving Enrile has dragged on after his lawyers filed several manifestations before the anti-graft court and the Supreme Court.
Enrile is also set to sign the pre-trial order for the plunder case. Napoles, Reyes and the other accused are already undergoing trial for it.
Once the pre-trial orders are signed, the trial for the former senator's graft and plunder cases will proceed, with schedule set every Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.
