MANILA- President Rodrigo Duterte’s scheduled tête-à-tête with his spokesman Salvador Panelo was canceled anew on Tuesday because the chief executive was “under the weather.”
Panelo went live on state television PTV to announce the cancellation of the interview, which was originally scheduled on Jan. 22 then rescheduled to Jan. 28.
“[T]he President is presently under the weather. He had several meetings yesterday and he had to pore on many documents, hence he doesn’t feel well today,” Panelo said.
“We will have to move this one on one interview with the President perhaps next week. We will let you know as soon as we know the specific date,” he added.
During the first cancellation, the Duterte spokesman said the President had to attend to some “pressing matters” in relation to his family but did not elaborate.
Panelo on Tuesday said the interview was supposed to touch on all issues of “national concern.”
The President had his first live one-on-one interview with Panelo in September 2018 where they discussed martial law in Mindanao, his critic former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, inflation, and the rice supply crisis, among others.
