MANILA- President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed former Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Benjamin Madrigal Jr. as a member of the governing board of the Philippine Coconut Authority.
The retired general was named to the post on Jan. 21 according to a list of new presidential appointees released by Malacañang on Tuesday.
As a member of the PCA, Madrigal will help develop and implement programs for the local coconut and palm oil industry.
Madrigal headed the military’s Eastern Mindanao Command before he took over as AFP chief of staff in January 2019. He retired from military service in September 2019 and was succeeded by Gen. Noel Clement.
