Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo denied that Vice President Leni Robredo is not invited to the Miss Universe coronation on Monday, and said tickets for the second-highest official in the country were only delayed.
Robredo on Friday said she will not attend the pageant on Monday since she was not invited.
"Hindi e. Hindi ako imbitado," Robredo told reporters.
According to Teo, tickets for Robredo were only delayed since they wanted to give her VIP tickets, instead of the lower box tickets which were given to cabinet secretaries and government officials.
VIP seats for the said pageant are sold for P50,000 each.
Robredo will be given 2 VIP tickets on Saturday, Teo said, noting that the vice president was one of the first officials she thought of inviting.
"And before tickets were handed out, nasa listahan na po si VP Leni at may 2 upuan nang nakareserba sa kanya. The Department of Tourism would be delighted if she will grace the 65th Miss Universe coronation night with her presence," Teo said.
Robredo's media team told ABS-CBN News that they have to confirm if the vice president will attend the pageant once she receives her tickets, as the Miss Universe pageant was not in her original Monday schedule.
Robredo was among the judges in the 2015 Binibining Pilipinas pageant who asked Pia Wurtzbach about the power of social media and internet censorship.
The same pageant enthroned Wurtzbach as the country's representative to the Miss Universe which led to her eventual win.
