DAVAO CITY - Mayor Sara Duterte has expressed willingness to run for Congress in the upcoming midterm elections if it would help Davao City's development.
"Well local, because as what I have said, I want to work in Davao City. As I said everything is fluid. Marami pa akong mga decisions that are not left up to me, especially sa mga kinokonsidera kong circumstances surrounding, of course (President Rodrigo Duterte), kanyang presidency," Duterte told reporters at the 50th annual installation of officers and board of Trustees of the Davao City Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc.
Duterte said she is willing to run for Congress if it will help Davao City to prosper but right now, she is uncertain about taking a higher leap in politics.
During the end of her speech in the event, she asked permission from the audience to let her run again as mayor because she wants to pursue the city's bus system program and farm to market road projects.
For her, improving the mass transport system of the city will open opportunities for more business and investors.
The bus system will provide safer mass transport, less travel time and congestion for the riding public, she said.
Duterte said the farm to market masterplan is due in February and is set to begin by 2019.
