Filipinos may find it useful to bring an umbrella this weekend, as the northeast monsoon (hanging amihan) and a low pressure area are expected to bring rain to the country.
Light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected in the regions of Davao and SOCCSKSARGEN, said weather bureau PAGASA in Friday morning weather bulletins.
The rest of Mindanao is expected to have isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Wet weather in the southern Philippines is due to the trough of a low pressure area (LPA) located 390 kilometers (km) southeast of Mindanao, which affected conditions despite being outside of the Philippine area of responsibility as of this writing.
There may be moderate rain in Aurora and Quezon.
Meanwhile, residents of Metro Manila, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Mindoro and Marinduque may see cloudy skies and light rain.
Aside from bringing some rain, the northeast monsoon is also expected to blow moderate to strong winds in the country.
According to PAGASA, residents of areas expected to experience moderate rain should frequently monitor weather conditions and prepare for possible landslides and flashfloods to ensure their family's safety.
