CEBU CITY - Devotees all over Cebu flocked to Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño to attend the traditional "Hubo" or the undressing of the Sto. Niño image, Friday dawn.

The Hubo mass, which signals the end of the Sto. Niño festival, started with a dance by the San Diego Dance Company.

In his homily, Basilica rector Fr. Pacifico Nojara urged church-goers to continue to be faithful to the Child Jesus despite the end of the Sto. Niño fiesta.

After the homily, the traditional "Hubo" took place. The ritual began with the removal of of the crown, followed by the orb, scepter, cape, inner garments and boots. For each garment removed, church-goers sang the "Christe, exaudi Nos" which means to remember the death of Jesus Christ.

The image was then dipped in water, wiped with a towel and dressed again with a new set of garments.

The traditional "Hubo" ended with people dancing the traditional Sinulog Dance to the beat of drums.
