SULTAN KUDARAT, Maguindanao — Three people were wounded in an ambush along the Cotabato-Davao highway in Barangay Rebuken here Wednesday morning.

The victims were identified as Jimmy Soledad, 60; Mohammad Ebad, 41; and Abrine Soledad, 30.

Police investigation showed the three family members coming from Cotabato City and heading home on board an Isuzu Trooper, before reaching a furniture shop in Barangay Rebuken here.

They were fired upon by unidentified men using M14 carbine, garand, 45-mm and 9-mm pistols based on the empty shells recovered at the scene.

The victims were immediately rushed to the hospital.

Sultan Kudarat PNP Chief Insp. Esmael Tarusan said the motive behind the attack might have been personal, a retaliation to the killing of a former barangay kagawad in the area on January 7.

The provincial government immediately convened the municipal peace and order council to discuss the incident, provide security measures and other interventions to avoid "rido" or family feud from erupting.
