M4.2 quake rocks Ilocos Norte; no damage expected

MANILA— A 4.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Ilocos Norte early Saturday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The tectonic tremor struck at 5:08 a.m. approximately 15 kilometers northeast of Carasi town with a depth of 1 km.

There were no reported intensities felt in the area.

Damage to structure and aftershocks are not expected, Phivolcs said.
