MANILA - A Caloocan court has ordered the arrest of two policemen tagged in the killing of teenagers Carl Arnaiz and Reynaldo "Kulot" De Guzman.
The arrest order was issued by the Caloocan Regional Trial Court against Police Officers 1 Jeffrey Perez and Ricky Arquilita who are facing murder, torture, and planting of evidence charges.
Last Friday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) indicted the two Caloocan police officers after a panel of prosecutors found probable cause to charge them.
The charges against taxi driver Tomas Bagcal were, for the meantime, dismissed due to absence of any overt act that would implicate him in the crime.
Arnaiz, 19, and De Guzman, 14, went missing last year. Arnaiz's body, bearing signs of torture, was found in a morgue, while De Guzman's was found on in Nueva Ecija with 26 stab wounds.
The police admitted to killing Arnaiz, but claimed what took place was a legitimate police operation as they were responding to the alleged robbery of Bagcal. They claimed Arnaiz fired at them first.
Perez and Arquilita did not address the killing of De Guzman during the preliminary investigation.--report from Ina Reformina, ABS-CBN News
