MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered government officials to provide water and other facilities to a housing project for residents affected by super typhoon Yolanda within 15 days.

Duterte on Wednesday inspected the New Hope Village in Barangay Sta. Elena in Tacloban City, Leyte.

According to Duterte, he wants all facilities completed by March, and gave officials 15 days to submit the required documents and permits.

"So by March, 'yung July... lahat, March, nandiyan na 'yan. Tubig... kung hanggang alas singko ka, dagdagan mo, tutal matagal ka nang... government has been feeding your family... dagdagan mo ng 3 hours, magtrabaho kayo. Ibigay mo sa tao, libre 'yan...tapusin niyo 'yan, 15 days, directors," he said.

"I'm warning everybody. Director, 15 days. Department, DPWH, Evasco, 30 days. Permit, 2 to 3 days. 'Pag ayaw mo, I will charge you with neglect of duty, either simple or serious. I will charge you administratively, 'wag na 'yung criminal (charges), matagal eh. Then I can suspend you, then you'll go to court," Duterte also said.

Duterte also promised the residents that they will be able to transfer to their new homes by March.

"January, February, March. March, lipat na kayo dito at magbalik ako dito. Kung hindi matapos March, maggawa kayo ng limang krus. Krus, 'yung parang kay Kristo? Ipakarga ko sa kanila, paikot-ikot dito," he said.

Duterte urged government officials to prove that they are worthy of their position, or resign if they cannot do their job properly.

"We show the Republic of the Philippines na karapat-dapat tayo dito sa gobyerno kasi kung p*t*ng*na kung hindi natin kaya, aalis tayo," Duterte said.

He also praised leftist Cabinet members like Social Welfare and Development Secretary Judy Taguiwalo and Cabinet Secretary Jun Evasco for being "idealists." Evasco replaced Vice President Leni Robredo as head of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) after she resigned from the Cabinet last December.

"Wala akong problema kay Judy. Judy is a leftist, just like Evasco. If they put their heart to it, they would do it. Walang agenda kasi ang left eh, wala naman itong [agenda] magyaman. Sanay sa preso eh. Ito 'yung mga idealist," he said.
