MANILA — A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck off the coast of Manay town in Davao Oriental on Sunday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located 61 kilometers (km) southeast of Manay town, according to Phivolcs. It had a depth of 60 km.
The earthquake, recorded at 2:23 p.m., was tectonic in origin, state seismologists said.
Phivolcs added it was not expecting damage, but aftershocks are likely.
