MANILA -- Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Director General Oscar Albayalde gave the Cebu provincial police office a two-week ultimatum to solve an ambush which left three, including a Cebu town mayor wounded, and three others dead.
San Fernando mayor Lakambini Reluya along with her two bodyguards were wounded in the ambush while her husband Ricardo, their driver and their staff died as shots rang in Barangay Linao, Talisay City Tuesday night.
Albayalde said Wednesday he will relieve the Cebu police provincial director and the Talisay City police chief if the case has not been solved in two weeks, citing how suspects in slain congressman Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe were identified within the timeframe.
"Remember 'yung kay Batocabe nga tinira natin ng two weeks eh. Kung talagang tatrabahuhin mo, talagang ano... Kaya naman eh kung talagang tutukan mo ang isang bagay. If you will use your fertile imagination, pwede, and initiative. Ito ang gusto nating mangyari,” Albayalde said.
[That's doable. If you set your mind into it. This is what we want to happen.]
Albayalde reiterated the attack on the Cebu mayor could have been politically motivated, based on conversations between Reluya and investigators.
