MANILA—The son of slain AKO Bicol Party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe on Wednesday hoped for the "swift recovery" of the alleged mastermind of his father's murder.
Carlwyn Baldo, mayor of Daraga town in Albay, was confined in a hospital in Legazpi City, Tuesday night, after hyperventilating in his detention cell.
"We pray for his swift recovery. Hopefully he stays true to his commitment to face all the charges against him," Justin Batocabe told reporters.
"We are giving him all the opportunity to answer these charges," he said.
"For me, there is still a long process we have to follow. It serves no purpose if we send someone who did not kill my father to jail."
But the family feels that "partial justice" was already attained after the apprehension of Baldo, Batocabe said.
"He has guns in his house, he has grenade launchers . . . Kita naman na he has violent desires. Why does he have those?" he said.
Rep. Rodel Batocabe was shot dead in December 2018 after attending a gift-giving event in Daraga, where he was pursuing the mayoralty.
