MANILA - A Chinese and a Colombian national were arrested for using fake passports while trying to leave the country, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Tuesday.

The Chinese national who was identified as 36-year-old Han Yujia was set to leave for Bangkok using a counterfeit Guatemalen passport, while 48-year-old Colombian Juan Arturo Carbajo was supposed to board a flight to Macau with a fake Argentinian passport.

"Han admitted during questioning that he is a Chinese citizen, and surrendered his Chinese passport that he hid in his luggage," said Glen Comia, Immigration Travel Control and Enforcement Unit head
at the Ninoy Aquino International Authority Terminal 3 said in a statement.

"The Colombian allegedly bought his fake Argentinean passport for $300 from a passport fraud syndicate in Lima, Peru," he said.

The 2 foreigners were detained at the Bicutan Detention Center for violating Philippines' immigration law, he said.
