DAVAO OCCIDENTAL – Hundreds of residents sought higher ground in Malita and Santa Maria towns in Davao Occidental due to flash floods Thursday dawn.
Officials said some motorists in Barangay Basiawan in Santa Maria were stranded after floods affected the highway.
Knee-high floods also affected parts of Poblacion in Malita.
The affected residents returned to their homes by 10 a.m. after the water subsided.
Harry Camoro of the Provincial Disaster Office said authorities advised residents to be on alert since last night due to continuous rains brought about by the tail end of a cold front.
