MALUNGON, SARANGANI- A pickup truck fell off a cliff, claiming five lives in Sitio Basak, Barangay Malandag, Malungon, Sarangani province on Wednesday night.

The victims were identified as Euds Elie Elambre, 19, Peddy Cabahug, Kenneth Ycay, 16, and Syan Greffeth Jaleco, 18. They died on the spot.

The driver, Lyndel Rey Palec, was brought to a hospital but died Thursday afternoon.

The victims were from Barangay Malandag bound for Barangay Banahaw to attend a fiesta.

Police investigation showed that Palec lost control of the vehicle on the curved part of the highway.

Police are also investigating information that the victims were intoxicated before they decided to go to the fiesta.

The pickup truck was registered to Boyet Constantino, who promised to give assistance to the victims' kin.

He is an uncle of Mayor Tess Constantino of Malungon.
