MANILA - Two weather disturbances dumped almost a month's volume of rain in one day in Misamis Oriental, state weather bureau PAGASA said Tuesday.
The PAGASA-El Salvador station said they recorded 72.4 millimeters of rain in the province over a 24-hour monitoring on Tuesday.
The rainfall amount recorded in this period almost surpassed
the station's average total rainfall for January, which is 98.9 mm.
A low pressure area and the tail-end of a cold front dumped heavy rains that submerged parts of Misamis Oriental and neighboring provinces Monday.
State meteorologists also observed 0.7-meter high tide in Misamis Oriental around 2 p.m. Monday, which contributed to flooding in the province.
