MANILA - The Sandiganbayan 6th Division has given Tawi-Tawi Congresswoman Ruby Sahali Tan permission to join the third round of peace talks in Rome.

In a resolution, the court granted Tan's motion to travel to Rome, Italy and France for the peace negotiations between the government and the Communist Party of the Philippines.

Tan, who chairs the lower House Committee on Peace, Rehabilitation and Unity, was invited by government chief peace negotiator Silvestre Bello III to join the peace talks.

Tan will also meet with Philippine Embassy officials and Filipino communities there.

Tan was allowed to leave the Philippines on January 17, 2017. She was required to return on or before January 30.

She has posted a P60,000 travel bond.

Tan needed clearance from the court since there is a hold departure order against her for breach of conduct cases.

Tan is facing charges for allegedly failing to file her Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALNs) when she was Tawi-Tawi vice governor from 2008 to 2013.
