MANILA - Opposition Senator Antonio Trillanes IV arrived in Davao City Tuesday to face several libel cases filed against him by President Duterte's son, former Davao City vice-mayor Paolo Duterte, and presidential son-in-law Manases Carpio.

An ABS-CBN Regional Network Group report said Trillanes passed through the VIP section of Davao International Airport upon his arrival.

Video taken by ABS-CBN RNG also showed Trillanes' convoy being guarded by a police escort.

The younger Duterte and Carpio earlier filed libel cases against Trillanes just days after President voided Trillanes' amnesty, reviving coup d'etat and rebellion charges against him for uprisings in 2003 and 2007.

Trillanes, in 2017, had claimed that the younger Duterte and Carpio were involved in a scheme to extort money from ride-hailing firms.

The Davao City Regional Trial Court Branch 54 earlier ordered Trillanes' arrest and set bail at P24,000 for each of the four cases of libel, bringing it to a total of P96,000.

The senator then posted bail in Pasay City, prompting a Pasay court to lift the warrants of arrest against the lawmaker and issue a certificate of voluntary surrender.
