MANILA- A "stop and go" traffic scheme will be implemented on EDSA and parts of Metro Manila during the visit of Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Tuesday.

Sirisena is set to arrive in Manila on Tuesday night and will stay in the Philippines until Saturday, Jan. 19.

Areas that may experience traffic disruptions when Sirisena's convoy passes by are Makati City, Manila City, Pasay City, Pasig City, and Quezon City.

"A full stop of traffic would be observed and be opened immediately as convoy passes through," the MMDA said.

Sirisena's visit to the Philippines will be the first by a Sri Lankan president serving as both head of state and government.
