MANILA - Flights between Legazpi City and Manila were cancelled or delayed on Monday due to bad weather and as Mayon Volcano spewed ash, authorities said.
Cebu Pacific flights 5J 321 and 5J 322 were cancelled, the Manila International Airport Authority said, as the state weather bureau warned of occasionally heavy rains in the Bicol region and other parts of the country due to the tail end of a cold front.
Residents in these areas were warned of possible floods and landslides.
Philippine Airlines' Manila-Legazpi-Manila flights are delayed by about an hour and 10 minutes due to Mayon's activity, said PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna.
A "hazardous eruption" of Mount Mayon is possible within weeks or days, scientists said Monday, as thousands were evacuated along the path of the country's most active volcano, said Phivolcs director Renato Solidum.
Alert level 3 was raised last Sunday, meaning "there is always the tendency for a hazardous eruption," Solidum said. The highest warning, level 5, means an eruption is ongoing.
