MANILA - Temperature in the country's summer capital dipped to 11.4 degrees Celsius early Sunday, the coldest so far this month, as the northeast monsoon continued to blow cool winds across the country, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

The temperature in Baguio City was recorded at 5 a.m. and was the lowest temperature in the entire country, PAGASA meteorologist Leni Ruiz told ABS-CBN News.

Temperatures in the city and other nearby provinces are expected to plunge further as the amihan has yet to reach its peak, he said.

Last month, temperature in Baguio dropped to as low as 11 degrees Celsius. In February 2017, the city recorded its lowest temperature of 9 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, temperatures in Metro Manila, Cebu City and Davao City are expected to hover between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius, PAGASA earlier said.

The weather agency on Sunday also warned of occasionally heavy rains in Mindanao due to winds from the east; and in Visayas, Bicol Region and Quezon province due to the tail of a cold front.

Residents in these areas were warned of possible floods and landslides.
