CEBU CITY — Despite heavy rains here, Vice-President Leni Robredo pushed through with her visit to the Cebu City jail Saturday.
Robredo, who first visited the correctional facility's female dormitory, talked with the inmates and commended their skills training inside the city jail.
The dormitory houses more than 400 female inmates, some of whom make bags for sale.
During the dialogue with Robredo, female inmates brought up issues such as delayed case resolutions, overpopulation in the dormitory, and scarcity of water supply.
Robredo also visited young offenders, who greeted her with a Sinulog dance presentation.
The vice president reiterated that minors also experience overpopulation inside the jail as well as problems with water supply.
In a press conference, Robredo said she will talk with the local government unit here to address the sentiments of inmates.
