Thousands of devotees flocked to Ouano Wharf in Mandaue City early Saturday morning to witness the fluvial procession of the Sr. Sto. Niño and the Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Even policemen waved to the holy child, which was on board a galleon.

Members of the Archdiocese of Cebu including Archbishop Jose Palma rode with the Sto. Nino, while children took a dip in the sea while the procession was ongoing.

After the fluvial procession, a reenactment of the arrival of the image was done, followed by a mass at the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño.

On Saturday afternoon, a procession by devotees on foot is expected to take place.

A wireless signal block took effect in almost all areas of metro Cebu following a request by the Philippine National Police (PNP) to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

The shutdown was part of security measures against possible attacks.
