MANILA—The state weather bureau on Saturday said it is monitoring a new low pressure area (LPA) or brewing storm spotted east of Mindanao.
In its 4 p.m. advisory, PAGASA said the LPA earlier monitored has dissolved while a new one was sighted 3,400 kilometers east of Mindanao, outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
The LPA is expected to develop into a tropical depression within 3 days and will be named "Amang."
It is expected to enter the PAR Thursday or Friday.
PAGASA said the trough or extension of the LPA will affect Mindanao, while the northeast monsoon or "amihan" still prevails over Luzon and Visayas.
