MANILA—The graft trial of former senator Juan Ponce Enrile and several others linked to the multibillion-peso Priority Development Assistance Fund scam will begin on March 19, the Sandiganbayan has announced.
Enrile, his former chief of staff Gigi Reyes, and businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles are facing 15 counts of graft over the PDAF scam.
The anti-graft court's third division scheduled the start of the trial after the pretrial conference, in which the prosecution and the defense sit together to agree on the testimonial and documentary evidence to be used, was terminated on Friday.
The pretrial for the corresponding plunder case involving Enrile, Reyes and Napoles was terminated last year, and the trial for that is expected to start next month.
The graft and plunder cases, although primarily involving the same set of witnesses and evidence, will be tried separately.
