CEBU CITY – Authorities on Tuesday destroyed 60-kilos of imported meat confiscated from passengers arriving at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

The Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) Veterinary Quarantine Services said it started confiscating imported meat brought in by passengers from January 1 to 7, 2019.

Passengers who were mostly from China, Hong Kong, and Korea hand carried the imported meat as “pasalubong.”

Dr. Arnie Delas Marias, chief of the BIA in Mactan, said they will be continuing operations against imported meat as a measure to stop the entry of African Swine Flu that already reached China.
