2 electricians shot dead in Butuan City

BUTUAN CITY — Two men were shot dead in Barangay Pagatpatan here early Thursday morning.

The victims were identified as Redentor Genon and Darwin Gravino. Both worked as electricians at a local mall.

Based on the initial investigation, the two went to the wake of their co-worker’s brother Wednesday evening. They were at a waiting shed when the gunman fired at them.

The victims sustained gunshot wounds to the head. They died on the spot.

Police Senior Inspector Roland Orcullo, chief of Butuan City Police Station-2, said the incident was the first shooting death recorded in the city to start the new year.

Orcullo said the motive and the identity of the gunman are not yet known.

Some witnesses reveal said the suspect has a round face, a medium build, is short and was wearing a jacket and a bull cap. He rode alone in his motorcycle.

Police recovered three empty shells of a caliber-.45 gun at the crime scene.

Authorities are investigating whether the incident is linked to illegal drugs.
