MANILA - Stargazers are in for a treat with the first meteor shower of the year taking place this week, the state weather bureau said.
Up to 40 meteors are visible per hour during the Quadrantid meteor shower, which will take place from Jan. 1 to 7. It is expected to peak on Wednesday and Thursday.
Debris from a near-Earth asteroid called 2003 EH and the shower will appear to radiate from the constellation Bootes, PAGASA said.
NASA earlier said that the Quadrantid could be considered as “one of the best meteor showers” of the year.
