OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental - The Philippine National Police will destroy nearly a thousand marijuana stalks and three kilograms of marijuana seeds during PNP chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa's trip to the town of Aloran Tuesday.
The cannabis plants were uprooted from a plantation discovered in a remote area in Barangay Guingona by Police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido barely a month after his transfer from Albuera, Leyte.
Authorities said the plantation was cultivated by Barangay Tanod Fernando Villamor, who was not home during the raid.
Espenido said drug suspects Ariel Bundaon Jr. and Lindon Bulante tipped them off about the plantation.
Villamor's wife, Rosevilla, and son, Raffy, both denied involvement in the barangay official's drug business. Police also confiscated assorted firearms from Villamor's property.
Authorities are now looking into other possible marijuana plantations in the barangay.
