CAGAYAN DE ORO - A man was killed on New Year's Day after he was stabbed and shot by two of his friends in Cagayan de Oro city, southern Philippines.
The victim, identified as Earl Balaba, was killed while at a New Year's party, apparently over jealousy.
According to Balaba's common-law-wife Carla Villanueva, the victim's friend, Den “Dogoy” Peleciano, barged into the party and looked for his wife, who was then dancing.
After fetching his wife, Peleciano returned with a mutual friend, Dodong Villega, and looked for Balaba.
The apparently jealous Peleciano then stabbed Balaba and Villega shot the victim, according to the police.
The suspects were allegedly intoxicated, according to witnesses.
Ms. Villanueva said she believes the suspects thought Balaba was dancing with Peleciano’s wife.
The police were unable to apprehend the suspects. They are currently pursuing them.
